Tommy’s Field
Burkina Faso
About the Field
In January 2025, TM23 committed to building our fourth Tommy’s Field in Burkina Faso, Africa! With no running water and weather too extreme for synthetic turf, we built exactly what the village of Manoa asked for: a flat, safe dirt field adjacent to a brand-new school that a close friend built there in 2025.
With no need for permits, contracts or government approvals, we cleared the land, brought in the necessary dirt, cement and goals, and purchased soccer balls and uniforms for every child.
As of January 1, 2026 the U.S. government doesn’t support Americans traveling to Burkina Faso due to ongoing political unrest. But Burkina is also home to children and adults who love soccer and need to play. Where there is darkness, Tommy’s spirit brings light!

A local villager and wise spirit man named Touré facilitated the entire project from start to finish, and brought “Tommy’s Field – Burkina Faso” to life while proudly sporting a TM hat on his head. We are forever grateful for his connection to TM23
Fundraising
Tommy’s Field – Burkina Faso was fully funded by the TM23 Foundation. We are honored to share Tommy’s spirit of play globally, and help brighten our entire world one Tommy’s Field at a time.
